[ah-weh-reh], a short film made by Jenna Berlyn and Anina Visuals, was recently screened at RECLAIM SPACES by Studio Levi. This pop up food and film event in Chania, Crete celebrated art and the vibrant local food scene. On Saturday, April 13, 2024, visitors gathered on the beautiful Anassa rooftop, a female-run spot in the Venetian Harbour. Guests enjoyed local food from farms, bakers and wineries. Following the meal, a selection of short films by FLINTA filmmakers were screened, of which Jenna was one of eight.
[ah-wah-reh] is a meditation on pre-nostalgia. Where nostalgia longs for the past, pre-nostalgia longs for the present. It’s the desire to prolong the fade from moment to memory, to be cradled in a pocket of suspended time, to savour the seconds on the back of your tongue. It’s the bittersweetness of missing something before it has gone.
